TTIP is not so understood or even noticed by the man in the street – if it was he would be kept up at night: here are 11 facts why.
The corporates multi national of the world are training at the leash to begin the trade deal which will join and alter our world. For the good they say – open trade, more jobs, ease of access – same old political lies for the sake of control.
Mr. Obama and Mr.Cameron seem to have their hearts set on it – on their souls maybe.
The idea now is apparently to rush through this highly dodgy legislation before the end of Obama’s Presidential tenure in November 2016.
The phrase mean Transnational Trade investment Protocol (or True Totalitarian Integration Process?) carefully designed to be vague, confusing and boring enough to make the public uninterested.
Fortunately as the time goes by more and more information is being spread across the internet, and through street rallies and marches all over Europe.
At The Hague on Saturday the 28 May, a street rally of about 350 people made quite an impression on passers by, thanks also due to an excellent piece of agit-prop theater, presented by local professional clowns and amateur actors from Stichting Mobiele Clowniek Fabriek.
So here are 11 reasons to beware this potential coup d’etat of consumer profit.
1) Decision Making
The decision making process of TTIP will be a private matter, behind close doors. No public body – not even legal- can be part of the discussions.
2) Public services:
although the European Commission has said that no public service is in danger, there are rumors in England that their National Health Service could well be privatized in secret deals. This could open up doorways all across Europe for similar take overs were that to happen.
3) Food and Health Standards
A TTIP deal will mean that there will be an amalgamation of food standards on both sides of the Atlantic. This may sound grand but since 70% of USA processed food contain genetically modified ingredients, this will completely ruin the high standards of European food where no GM is usually permitted. Not even a label will be necessary for information of ingredients. Likewise in the EU there is a ban on experimenting cosmetics on animals. THE US ha no such ban.
4) The Banks
American banks have had tightening of bank regulation especially since 2008. With TTIP the bankers could well regain their freedoms to play their game again, this time with more ease of influence on European banks.
5) Money controls
Money itself may become completely altered. With so many currencies involved in Europe and the American continent cash will be gradually fazed out and all money plasticized, computerized and recorded.
6) Privacy of the Individual
Just the joining of two great trade blocks will necessitate a huge increase on security controls of the individual. Internet, mobile phone and TV monitoring of consumers already exists. Cameras like in England (one camera for every 13 people) will start to appear all over Europe too.
7) Mass Unemployment
Although thousands more job are promised the reality is the opposite. In 12 years of the trade block of the USA, Canada and Mexico a total of 1 million jobs were lost. The working man in Europe would also suffer a conditions and standards are much lower in the States. German worker would have a real hard time losing their rights and Union influence.
8) The Justice System and the Democratic Process
The ISDS is the corporate entity’s answer to justice. Absolute fascism in action! Tribunals of the ISDS can overrule governments. To quote the Independent
ISDS are already in place in other bi-lateral trade agreements around the world and have led to such injustices as in Germany where Swedish energy company Vattenfall is suing the German government for billions of dollars over its decision to phase out nuclear power plants in the wake of the Fukushima disaster in Japan. Here we see a public health policy put into place by a democratically elected government being threatened by an energy giant because of a potential loss of profit. Nothing could be more cynically anti-democratic.
9) Entertainment and the Arts
The general standard of the USA export of TV has always been for me a big problem. Poor quality, poor scripts and a growing obsession with violence. Advertising will become more common, more frequent and directly forcing the perspectives and goals of the big companies.
10) European Union Power
The influence of the EU over its member states will increase. The understanding now of EU power has suddenly been realized by many of the country state’s members. Selected bureaucrats, not elected politicians make policy – the lobby of a great corporate TTIP will be able to help implement many unpopular decisions.
11) The New World Order
This is a step to a world government, religion and army. Not the ideal situation for freedom and health.
Our world and its freedoms are being whittled away and many addicted to TV and the media lies are one day going to wake up to it all. Let’s hope it is not too late. TTIP is a danger to all of us as sovereign beings.
